What's your opinion and why?

Think of it in overlapping circles. Some art can be on the smutty side and some porn can be on the classy side. That comes to say that while there is a degree of "artsy farsty" in your pr0n, not all pr0n is artistic.

It's like photographs. While most photos are crappy friendster/multiply shots, there are photos that are really really nice to look at and and stuff.

Pornography is defined to be something obscene and done to stimulate carnal desires... art is something that stimulates one's mind.

Therefore, for me, pornography is not an art.
THough, I must admit, that sometimes these things overlap... it depends on one's sensibilities.

Art - the product or process of the effective application of a body of knowledge, most often using a set of skills.

the primary objective of pornography is to earn money. unless it promotes application of our skills, then i see no reason why it can be considered as art.

art for freud is the artist's daydream or wish. there is a "release" which the viewer feels when he finds a connection with this daydream. all daydreams are thought of as shameful and are therefore hidden. however, great artists create art which does not repel the viewer from the day dream being presented in the open. The viewer then embraces the art as being a representation of his own phantasy-wish or daydreams.
pornography then can be considered an art for the viewer who finds a connection in himself and to the "obscene" and "carnal expression of desire" found in pornography. And also in the condition that he finds release!
